The Boomers swim club is the community’s swim team. The team’s philosophy is simple: strengthen the body, improve swimming skills and teach the value of individual merit and team competition. The essence of Boomers Swimming philosophy also contributes to the quality of family life in Camden County.

Water Pretest Info:

Participants must demonstrate the following skills satisfactorily in order to enroll in the course:

1. 300 yd continuous swim using the front crawl, breast stroke, or a combination of both.  Swimmers may wear goggles, but must display breath control and comfort in deep water.

2. Tread water for 2 minutes with legs only.  Body must remain near vertical, head must remain above water, using only legs--NO arms or hands may be used to stay up.

3. Timed event: Starting in the water, swim 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet and retrieve a 10 lb. object. Return to the surface and swim with both hands holding the object to the starting point with the face at or close to the surface of the water. Exit the pool without using steps or a ladder.  You will have 1 minute, 40 seconds from start until exiting the pool to accomplish this task.  Goggles are NOT allowed for this task.

 

**Please note that class registration does NOT guarantee certification.  You must be present for all class sessions and pass all required skills and written tests to qualify for certification.**

You will need to bring your swimsuit, a change of clothes, a towel, a snack/lunch , and a drink every day.  Register at the REC Center located at 1050 Wildcat Drive in Kingsland.

 

Water Aerobics

CCRC Water Aerobics:  begin Tuesday May 31st

Class time is 9am, Monday - Friday.

 

Water aerobics classes are also offered at the St. Marys Pool starting May 31st

Classes are held at 11am, Monday - Friday.

Swim Lessons/Camp

 

Swim Lessons--Registration starts in April!  Sessions begin in the summer!

We have lessons scheduled for our CCRC Pool and the St. Marys Pool. Each session meets Monday thru Thursday for two weeks*.  

Pre-Register at the REC Center for all classes.  Private lessons are also available.  Call the REC Center @ 729-5600 or the St. Marys pool (after May 21st) @ 882-2189 for more details.
