Registration:

REGISTRATION FEES ARE NON-REFUNDABLE

The registration fee for youth basketball is $80. The fee helps to offset costs of the season, such as the officials for the sport, any equipment needed, and other expenses associated with the sport. The registration fee does not cover the cost of uniforms.

Age Groups:

To enroll a child must be 4 years old on or before Sept 1 of the current registration period year to play and not turn 18 before September 1 of the current registration period year.  Ex. Tommy must be 4 by Sept 1 2025 to play for the 2025-2026 basketball season.

Age divisions:

4-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-17 boys/coed leagues and 7-10, 11-13 girl’s league. A child’s must be 7 and not turn 15 of September 1 of the current registration period year. Ex. Jane must be 8 by Sept 1 2025 to play for the 2025-2026 basketball season. If we do not have enough participation for a girls only league, they will be combined with the boys.

Skills Evaluation:

The skills evaluation will be for ALL players. Skills evaluations will be held at the Camden County Recreation Department. All participants need to attend the skill’s evaluations. The 4-6 age groups will not have a skills evaluation.

Practices should begin on or before Dec 9th. If you haven’t heard from a coach by Dec. 11th, please call the athletic office at (912)510-7385. Practices will be held at the local schools and the Rec Center during the season. It will depend on what schools are available to us to use. They usually start at 4:30pm or later. A coach is welcome to practice outside if they desire.

Games:

The teams usually have two games per week. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday are the days during the week they could be playing. Games are held at local schools and the PSA REC Center.

Season:

Games should begin the first of January.

Uniforms:

Team uniforms will be furnished by the PSA. All teams are required to wear the jerseys furnished by the PSA for games. NO EXCEPTIONS. 

Trophies:

The team may elect to purchase end of season trophies. This is optional and the cost is the responsibility of the parents.

Coaches Information: 

Everyone wanting to coach or help with a team in any capacity must fill out a coaching application, a background check form and provide a copy of your valid driver’s license. You must be 18 years old to be considered a coach and attend the coaching certification clinic. You must submit to and pass a background check. All coaches must fill out a coaching application for every sport every year. The coaches meetings will be posted on the information sheet that we give out with registration.

Please note:  In response to Georgia House Bill 248, the Camden County Leisure Services has adopted the following return to play policy: “Any youth exhibiting symptoms of concussion will be removed from the game, competition, tryout, or practice and must be evaluated and cleared for return to play by a medical doctor.  Any youth athlete that has been deemed to have sustained a concussion by a health care professional will not be permitted to return to play until parents have presented proof of clearance to return to play from a medical doctor.”
